Die vier experimentierfreudigen Damen von Iva Nova aus Sankt Petersburg holen sich ihre Inspiration in der slawischen Folklore, die extravagante Musik der Band hat aber auch einen absolut eigenen wie auch wilden Touch. Ihr musikalischer Ausdruck ist mächtig energiegeladen und temperamentvoll, bis hin zu verspielt und humorvoll, weiblich und stolz. Wenn die Akkordeonspielerin ihr Instrument anstimmt, träumen wir sofort von den russischen Weiten. Aber wenn nach acht Takten dazu der Synthie anhebt, fühlen wir uns augenblicklich in das subversive Lebensgefühl der Großstadt versetzt. Die Band Iva Nova wurde 2002 in Sankt Petersburg gegründet, brachte 2004 ihr erstes Album heraus und startete damit sofort eine beispielhafte Livekarriere im In- und Ausland. Seit dem touren die vier sympathischen Musikerinnen jedes Jahr durch etliche Clubs und Festivals in der ganzen Welt mit ihrer unverwechselbaren und packenden Manier. Sie bedienen sich bei den musikalischen Traditionen ihrer Heimat, aber bewegen sich zugleich kreativ in alle erdenklichen Stilrichtungen, sodass auf ihren Liveshows zwischen gefühlvollen Songs und kraftvollem Punkrock alles möglich ist - das ist pure musikalische Anarchie! Ende 2018 veröffentlichten die vier Damen ihr neues Album „Uba Hoba“, dessen Songs sie auf ihrer aktuellen Tournee live präsentieren, ebenso wie viele andere Werke aus der Bandgeschichte von Iva Nova.

The ladies of IVA NOVA were inspired by the Slavic folk music, but they gave it a personal touch. A rather wild touch, we might add. Don't expect traditional Russian folk, these ladies rock a little too hard for that. But when the two lead singers do some harmonies, they make one think of Vartinna. Their sonic expression is girlish and playful, yet feminine and proud. And if the accordion player picks up accordion, she can make you dream of the Russian countryside. But when one of the singers picks up her guitar, she brings you right back to the big city.
The band was formed in 2002 in St. Petersburg, and traveled to Western Europe for the first time in 2004, after the release of their debut album. Ever since, they've been touring extensively, playing numerous clubs and festivals in eleven countries (even Iceland). In the meantime, they've released a second album Chemodan, an energizing and passionate recording.
Besides lyrics on Russian IVA NOVA have songs on Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Georgian and Tatar languages. Along with exploiting endless folklore resources they creatively experiment with other styles. Their live show is a mix of lyrical songs and punky-energetic dances.
