Der neue Projekt des Gitarristen Samo Salamon ist eine All-Star Gruppe, bestehend aus dem Founder der legendären Gruppe Oregon und Grammy Winner PAUL McCANDLESS und einem der besten europäischen Schlagzeuger - ROBERTO DANI. Das Projekt präsentiert neue Kompositionen von Samo Salamon, ein Mix von komponierter und improvisierter Musik. Samo Salamon ist ein äusserst talentierter Gitarrist und Komponist, der verschiedene Jazz Genres zusammenbringen will. Auf diversen Tourneen spielte mit Musikern wie John Scofield, Luciano Biondini, Rudi Mahall und vielen anderen und nahm 12 Albums als Leader auf.
Ein Trio der internationalen Spitzenklasse, dessen auffälligste Stimme zeitweilig wohl jene der Oboe von Paul McCandless sein dürfte - eine schöne Exotin im Jazz. Der aus Slowenien stammende Bandleader gehört zu den aufstrebenden Sternen am Jazz-Himmel. Mit dem fabulösen amerikanischen Oboisten Paul McCandless und dem aus Italien stammenden Schlagzeug-Magier Roberto Dani präsentiert er einen voll klingenden, weich-melodiösen, kristallklar definierten und rundum bestechend schönen Sound, der eigenwillig seinen eigenen Weg geht und thematische Muster aus den unterschiedlichsten Blickwinkeln neu beleuchtet. Die Musik dieses Trios hat alles, was Jazz unwiderstehlich macht: Dramatik, schnelle Tempiwechsel, Inspiration und Innovation, Sensibilität, ein dichtes und zuverlässiges Zusammenspiel der drei Protagonisten. Und nicht zuletzt eine grundsolide handwerkliche Basis und ein heraushörbares, respektvolles Bewusstsein für die Tradition, in der sie wurzeln. Oboe, Gitarre und Schlagzeug - zugegeben, eine nicht ganz klassische Besetzung, aber eine charakteristische Mischung, wie man sie nur von Samo Salamon kennt.

Samo Salamon is one of the most talented young guitarists and composers to emerge on today's jazz scene. So far he has recorded and played with many great jazz musicians like John Scofield, Paul McCandless, Mark Turner, Michel Godard, Tim Berne, Dominique Pifarely, Donny McCaslin, Nguyen Le, Drew Gress, Tony Malaby, Mark Helias, Tom Rainey, Dave Binney, Josh Roseman, Gerald Cleaver, Julian Arguelles, John Hebert, Loren Stillman, John O'Gallagher, Bruno Chevillon, Nguyen Le, Alex Machacek, Carlo DeRosa, Tyshawn Sorey, Matt Brewer, Luciano Biondini, Dejan Terzic, Roberto Dani, Rudi Mahall, and others. A gifted multi-instrumentalist and composer, he specializes on the oboe, English horn, bass clarinet, soprano and sopranino saxophones and a collection of folk flutes reflecting his grounding in both classical and jazz disciplines. A student of Robert Bloom at the Manhattan School of Music, he was a finalist in the 1971 English horn auditions for the New York Philharmonic. As a collaborator and solo artist he is credited with more than 200 albums and performances with such musicians as Jaco Pastorius, Carla Bley, Wynton Marsalis, Lyle Mays, Pat Metheny, Mark Isham, Steve Reich, Al Jarreau, Bruce Hornsby, Art Lande, Tony Furtado, the String Cheese Incident, Nguyen Le, Proteus 7 and Fred Simon.
In 1996 he won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones with whom he was a guest artist. McCandless’ fine tuned compositional skills have been called upon for a number of film scores. Most notably he wrote music for the video Squanto and the First Thanksgiving, a Rabbit Ears Production with Graham Greene as narrator. Paul recorded three of his orchestral scores for a CD called “Oregon In Moscow” featuring OREGON and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Orchestra. “ Round Robin,” the opening track received two 2001 Grammy nominations for Best Instrumental Composition and Best Instrumental Arrangement. As an orchestral soloist he has performed with the Camerata chamber orchestra of Mexico City, St Paul chamber orchestra, and the Philadelphia, Buffalo, Los Angeles and Stuttgart symphony orchestras.

Roberto Dani is one of the most creative and in-demand European drummers, having recorded 6 albums as a leader and collaborated on more than 60 albums.
